The MessageVault system employs fully automatic real-time archiving that works in parallel with all common mail servers. Any email forwarded to the system will be automatically accepted and stored in it's entirety with all message contents, attachments and characteristics (date, sender, recipient, subject etc) preserved and fully indexed. Most mail servers can be set up to forward a copy of all messages to a specified email address which has been mapped to the MessageVault system. This is known as "journaling" on MS Exchange for instance.
